Welcome to the fold Chuck, I too have a fondness for the Converts......I'm
trying to get a page of Loopers and their bikes started on my web site so if
you can send me a jpg and I'll put it on...remember, you must also be in the
picture.

In the spirit of any good twelve step program....My
name is Chuck Peterson, and I seem to have become
addicted to Moto Guzzi...

I started with a Convert four years ago. I found it
leaking like a sieve in the back of a garage...after
working on it for 50,000 miles, I can't seem to find
enough things wrong with it to spend all my spare time
with it, so...

then I found a V700?!?!?!?!?...at least an 7.5, 8
maybe...all the parts were there, dry storage for 15
years by a car collector. I wasn't looking for it,
honest...it found me. I thought I was going to get a
Cal III...

And now, it gets worse. My family EXPECTS me to be at
Marcus Dairy, EVERY Sunday. They have seen how surly I
get when I don't go. It's hard not to crack under
that kind of pressure. I've gotten to know the flock
there, as they have all helped ressurect both bikes.
It's great to see 10-15 Guzzi from all decades, lined
up in the Conn. sunshine for Sunday breakfast...

The Convert is nicknamed Big Bottom Betty, what with
those DB bags on her, although I've considered hanging
iron skillets on it and calling it the Chuck
Wagon...the V700, with only 1500 miles on her since
ressurection, is still revealing her name...

Honest, I can quit anytime....................;}

Anyway, I'm glad to be a part of the loopframe list. I
do have one question for the techs of you out there..

my V700 engine is #1296. How do I know if it is an
"early V7", and should I drop the valve adjustment as
small as Richardson suggests for the early V7s. other
signs are a 2 part METAL gen cover, Marelli starter
and gen, no in line switch on the original front brake
cable, 4 looonngg bolts on each valve cover..

Many thanks to MGCycle for parts and phone help on the
V700...

Many thanks to Cycle Garden and the girls there...

Heading for northern New Hampshire/Canada for wed thru
sun run with camping gear...on the automatic, too lazy
to shift...

a friend of mine calls me a shiftless bastard, and I
call him a squarehead...
