I, too, took a ride on the new EV and the early/late Mustang is a
good comparison. However, there is only one thing enough better on the EV to
convince me to buy one........the brakes. While at about 70 MPH, I had a car
pull out from a driveway between me and the bike in front of me. Had I been
on the Loop it is questionable if I would have been able to miss him, on the
EV, no problem. But.....I most likely would not have been going that fast on
the Loop, especially with a passenger. The stability is nice, as is the
power, but the looks can not compare. I have read several times that the EVs
handling is top shelf amoung the cruisers and can now believe it.
Would I like to have an EV? Yes! Would I give up the loop to get
one? I think not! I will, however, do my very best to improve the brakes on
the loop to as close to the level of the EV brakes as I can, modifications
included. If I was traveling any great distance on a bike I would have to
reconsider, just from a safety stand point. Fortunately, or unfortunately
depending on your point of view, I am unable to undertake a mega-mileage
trip on the bike due to a back injury so the loop seems to suit me just
fine. Too bad I can't afford two.
I will continue to attend as many Guzzi functions as I can, as soon
as I can get my clutch problems solved, and as long as I am welcome with the
Eldo on a trailer or the back of my truck.
As for propagation of the species, I think MGNA needs to spend less
time preaching to the choir, and start pedaling their wares to the general
market. If only Moto Guzzi owners buy Guzzis that amounts to stagnation from
a business stand point. Growth is necessary to any business attempting to
survive in the modern world. If they can solve their warranty and dealers
support problems the bikes will sell them selves. They are very competitive
in the specialty market area.

I've ridden the EV's...you're right, they are fine machines...just like
the
new Hondas and Harleys....after riding my Loop 3000 miles last week I
still
wouldn't trade it for a new EV.....apples and oranges....

I made the trip for a different reason,to pick up a T3 LAPD and take
a test ride . The T3 was not worth moving from next door for $200 let
alone $2000 and 1000 miles,so it was left in Vermont. However the TEST
RIDE was great!!! I can see why MG will never reissue the loopframe or
anything close to it. The EV is an OUTSTANDING ride. Power, smoothness
,brakes, handling AND GOOD LOOKS ! Great machine. Between having my son
,Keith along and having that test spin ,in the mountain setting it more
than made up for the corroded T3 drenched in mouse piss I had to walk
away from. I just bought a 1993 Cal III Fuelie and now it looks like I
will be adding a new EV to the stable as well. The loops were OK in
thier time ,but that WAS a LONG time ago. The EV IS art on wheels
,especially from the RIDER's seat when going down the road. An old loop
will never again look the same :-}}!!!!!
