Subject: timing questions...still

I set the static timing yesterday. The distributor is
turned as far clockwise as it will go and the points are
just barely closed. I assume it is a tooth or so off. I
can't remember who, but someone said they would send long
detailed instructions on how to remedy this. The bike
runs great! I may just leave it like this, but I'd like
to fix it properly so her next owner won't be on this list
bitching about their PO woes! :)
Also, the distributor stops turning a good centimeter or
so before the end of the adjustment slot is met. This is
from the teeth being off too, right? Lastly, which way is
the distributor turned to advance?
Thanks!
