Greg,
I had a '74 stock Eldo back in the 70's, and remember how noisy the
intake was with the stock setup. I also have an old Cycle World review
of a '74 Eldo in which they complain about the very loud intake noise
when the throttle is opened.
I put K&N filters on my restored Eldo, and don't notice the intake
noise so much. However, I must say that I am using Mac mufflers, which
are louder than the stock mufflers were.
