Just took the cover off the back of my 5 speed transmission to replace the
shift return spring and found the bearing in the cover that is retained by
the clip is shot. I believe this is the output shaft bearing. I have found
a generic replacement that is a sealed bearing but since the speedo drive
gear on the other side needs lubrication, will I be cutting off the supply
with a sealed bearing? I do see 2 little cut-outs in the housing wall that
this bearing rides in that can possibly allow gear lube to find its way to
the speedo gear. Anyone have experience with replacing this bearing and also
know of a generic replacement. My replacement is $ 20.00 as compared to the
$50 to $60 that I am seeing elsewhere.

Thanks in advance for all replys.
