US or European versions?

1967 V7s are very similar in both places. red and silver, with cases
lacking the reinforcement you describe. That said, some cases cracked
and were replaced under warranty with reinforced cases. These cases
were phased into production for late 1967, I think.

1968 US V7s are essentially the same as 1967 V7s, that is red and
silver, but usually having the reinforced cases.

In 1968 a bunch of changes were made to the Euro V7s: new colors, seat,
taillight, and so on. Some of these came to the US in late 1968 and
early 1969, just before the switch to the A-series Ambassadors (which
were V7s except for bore and some paint differences).

The big-tank Ambassadors and Euro equivalent, the V7 Special, came out
about the same time for 1969.

 Hi Ian,
All I know about the numbers are that according to the owner the frame
number starts with "VS" and it has an "A" in it.
I have not seen the bike yet myself and the owner on the phone could
not
make out the numbers in a badly lite shed with dead batterys in his
torch!

I am trying to get the info I need together so if I go to see it this
weekend or the next I will be able to make a positive id at the time
so I
can deal from a position of knowlege.

 Gavin,

What are the serial numbers from the left side of the engine case and
on
the
 steering head?

Hiya people,
I am looking at buying a Guzzi that I have been told is a V7 700.
But it is registered as a "V7 Special" year on the papers is 1969.

I have some questions to tax the Guzzi brain!
The first production V7 '67 does not appear to have any webing on the
crankcase running on the left hand side from the barrel base towards
the
starter. Yet one from 1969 V7 seems to have that web.
Anyone know hat was used in 68?

Also does anyone know how to tell the year from the engine or chassis
number?

He could not see the number in the dark tonight! So I don't know
what it
is.

One book tells me then numbers should be between "VS 00 AA" and "VS
99
SS". Is the book right?

Kind regards
Gavin
