When I lived in Austin TX (1981-84), Houston
was referred to the Horror on the Water, making reference to the activity of
gun and knife
clubs that kept Ben Taub Hospital beds packed
with patients. As of late, the cosmopolitan life
has improved and clean up initiatives have changed the face of downtown. It
was also
included in the "cancer triangle", a geographic
region that had a higher incidence of cancer related disease....
Other than that, it's probably a nice place to
live. :-)
