I had this problem recently and pulled my hair out until I realized that it was a fuel flow quagmire. My left petcock was just trickling out gas instead of flowing an my right cylinder appeared to get the gas while the left side was starving..New petcocks and all is well. Sounds simple but worth considering.

I have a problem. My bike will start on the first hit of the starter every
time, however only ther right side cylinder is running. I have no idea why
this is happening. Here is what I have done so far:

1. Changed spark plug
2. Tested spark plug by pulling it out and starting the bike and holding it
close to the motor to see it spark
3. Drained the Carb bowl and let some gas run through just to make sure it
was getting gas.
4. Pulled the carb off and examined it floats and needle look fine every
thing on it is adjusted the same as the other side.
5. Writting this e-mail to see if someone might have an idea of what is
going on.

Thanks,
