<P>I just installed a pair, yes the bolt needs to be longer than stock. I took the route of buying drill rod (very hard) and tapping threads on both ends and then used lock nuts on both sides. </P>
<P>The reason for drill rod is it comes in 1/32 sizes and fit properly without slop. Tapping the drill rod is a challenge due to its hardness.</P>
<P>In Seattle a place like Tocoma Screw carries metric allthread as an alternative. If you go this route I would recommend taking a file to the threads that go thru the engine case and flattening them out then putting a bit of grease on the allthread prior to installing.</P>

<DIV></DIV>>I don't know about the length issue, but I've heard of guys using
<DIV></DIV>>all-thread of the appropriate length and diameter, with acorn nuts on
<DIV></DIV>>each end. It's not original, but will certainly work and look great. If
<DIV></DIV>>you use standard (not metric) sizes, I'm sure the prices will be a lot
<DIV></DIV>>cheaper. I've not checked, but I bet metric fasteners of that type and
<DIV></DIV>>size will be a lot more expensive.
