That did the trick Mark, thanks. I used an adjustable wrench across the 2 allen wrenches as a screwdriver was just bending the wrenches.

Another question now, I put in a new tranny input gear last time I had this apart and have only put about 10 miles on the bike since, but the tranny input gear already shows small signs of wear where the other gear had deep grooves. I looked at the clutch plates and they are made of 3 (I think) plates riveted together and it doesn't look like the plates are perfectly aligned. Do I need to get new clutch plates? The thickness of the clutch material shows no wear.

Takes a special tool or take two allen wrenches,or back side of drill bits that fit in little holes.back off nut,put bits,or allen wrenches in holes,put Big screw driver between and turn lefty loosey,or righty tighty,if they are really tight,squirt with wd 40 and give them three hard smacks with a good heavy hammer on there faces.lefty loosey out.righty in.WORSE case,put a vice gripes on them,and call me for free used ones,Mark
