Pat,

Thanks for the info. I checked inside with my flashlight and the washer was
stuck in place on the one head, but missing from the other. Guess I will do
some digging in my spare heads and see if I can come up with another one.

I often find that the washer at that location gets stuck in place and
does not come out easily. Youd do have to have one to take up the shear
force of the turning nut against the aluminum head. Look in there
closely. Stick a long magnet down this hole. If it sticks, then there
is still a steel washer embedded in there.
