I meant the alternator/genertor light goes on. I have Greg's Alternator conversion on my Eldo.
It shouldn't make a difference.

Hey Tom!

"When I got the engine to rev up to about 2-3K RPm the gen light started
to glow dully."

That was my symptom on the ride out to the National. Turn the key to
the on position, gen light on, start it up and rev low, light off, rev
high, light started to glow. Recall I changed out my Voltage Regulator
at the rally, but Mark E seems to think if I would have flashed the
field on the old VR, it would have come back to life. I understand if
the battery is disconnected for any reason, it is a good thing to flash
the field on the VR again to make sure the charging system is working.
Incidentally, when I came to a stop light on the ride out when the
charging system was not working, the Ambo spit and backfired then
totally died, battery was dead. Perhaps this is the same reason your
Eldo is not running right, not enough juice from the battery to generate
a solid spark in the cylinders?

Good Luck.

 Hi Greg

I met a few people from your neck of the woods at the National. Off the
top of my head I can't remember his name but he was traveling all over
Europe and had just gotten back. He was ridding up from Florida on his
eventual finish in Seattle. Nice guy. He mentioned you just missed
coming to the rally. There were a few bikes with your kit. Some great
looking loops.

Anyway

I am having a heck of a time getting me Eldo to run right. Black smoke
fouled plugs. I just put new atomizers, needles, float vale shutoff and
enricher (choke) plungers in the carbs. I hope that works. When I got
the engine to rev up to about 2-3K RPm the gen light started to glow
dully. That make sense to you? I checked the wiring. It looks
correct. I will check again. It is really simple. Nothing is happening
with that until I get the bike to idle and accelerate properly. If you
have any thought on this let me know

Tom
