Custom 7: Install Gregory Bender's saddlebag light extensions

Applicable to these part numbers:

  1. The wires are left long so that you can choose where you would like to place the connector.
    • Personally, I would optimize the connector so that it is placed near the license plate bracket. It can then be hidden behind the bracket and zip-tied to remain in place. I prefer this so that if I remove the bags, the plug remains tucked away.
  2. You may arrange the connectors in any configuration that you choose, as long as you have a male and female connector for each side.
    • Personally, I would attach the larger connector to the saddlebags simply so that there is less to tuck away should you decide to remove the saddlebags for a while. But this is just my preference. Go with what you like.
  3. Inside the saddlebag, you will connect the black and yellow wires to the existing wires that ground (black) and power (yellow) the lights. You will use the butt connector and heat shrink for these connections.
  4. At the tail light, you will crimp ring terminals onto the black wires and ground them. You may be able to route the black wires under the fender (through the existing hole) and ground them to the underside of the fender where the bracket is bolted in place.
  5. At the tail light, you will crimp male bullet terminals onto the yellow wires. Then plug in the male connectors to the triple bullet connector with the yellow wire attached to it. You will also plug in the yellow wire from the main harness. Then, plug the short yellow wire with the male bullet terminal into the female bullet terminal that goes to the tail light. All the yellow wires are now connected to one another.
    • The live feed for all of the yellow wires comes from the yellow wire from the main harness.
