I know a couple of people who left their gas on and filled a cylinder. They
found out when the bike wouldn't turn over and they pulled the plugs finding
more fuel than they barganed for.
I don't know about bending parts. You'd need a pretty strong battery and
starter - my opinion.

Never seen it happen but I've heard of potential hydro-lock. I seem to
remember seeing some photos of parts after hydro-lock. Bent rods,
screwed up pistons, ect. Anyone expand on this?

As a former British bike rider I've made it a habit not only to shut my
gas
off whenever I shut the bike off, but I do it b4 I get to my stop to run
the
float bowls down.
The potential of gas washing your cylinders by flooding the bike is real
and
should be avoided.

Two things.
My rear brake was making horrible noises, I took it apart and sprayedcleaner over all the appropriate surfaces and used a dremel to grindoff
theridge on the edge where the brake shoe wasn't making contact with thedrum, put it back together and it was great for a few miles then starteddoing
itagain. It not only sounds terrible, but I can feel it vibratingthrough myfoot. Do I just need new pads or what?surprisingly
Also, I left my petcock on last night and this morning had alarge puddle of gasoline under the bike. On one side it was drippingout
ofthe air filter, the other looked like it was coming from the bowl oroff
somewhere similar. Should I worry about this, or just leave my petcockwhen parked?
Thanks for sharing your accumulated wisdom.
