The speedo lunched itself in the firt mile. A quick whine and then the

I have a working one with a dent in the case $40 inc shipping if you're
interested.

Thanks man. I may take you up on that. I want to see if I can borrow a local
one to get past the inspection for the DMV. Then I'll send the original one
off to be rebuilt. The wife is still reeling from the amount of money and
time I have spent thus far. I have to lay low for a couple months.

If someone else wants to nab it, don't wait on me. sell it.

Mine did that, but was better when the gasket was replaced. The bad thing
about rattel can paint is that it is not gas proof. The good thing is
that it sure makes it easy to touch up. Duplicolor makes a clearcoat for
steel wheels that is absolutely gas proof. Not sure about compatability
with the paint you used, but it might be worth a test..
I figured out what went wrong. This is the bonehead award winner. I didn't
think to measure the THICKNESS of the gasked I replaced. I was so worried
about the material coming apart when in contact with gas, I didn't think
about that. damn. any how, I had this thick pink rubber sheet that I have
used before on beemer gas caps. I forgot I had it. It worked great.

I masked off the area that was stained, cleaned it with a scrub pad and 600
grit. Sprayed a light coat of paint. removed the mask and sprayed with
clear. then waxed. looks okay. thin ghost lines where the worst of the gas
run was and another where the mask was. no big deal.

The forks seem to be out of alignment. Not bad. just annoying. like a
steering wheel on crooked.

I expect you know how to fix this one...

Maybe. Maybe not. I'm not real knowledgable about fixing the guzzie forks.
On the beemer, you loosen the clamps and axle nuts and bounce the front end.
That usually lines things up. Suggestions are welcome.

The most worrisome is that the clutch slips. I pray it is just some gear
oil
on the plate from when I pressurised the gearbox to get the clutch
plunger
out. But I worry that it is a bad main seal.

Still it is an awesome ride.

Congrats!!
Thanks!

Pics are on the way
