It would tell you it is NOT the rings, but wouldn't tell you about the
guides. The only way to study them is to tear down the head. How much
mileage? My Eldo would routinely ovalize its guides after 30K. Creates lots
of pinging when oil is sucked past the intake stem. If you are nearing or
over this mileage, then I'd consider head work.
