Just remembered something, Dave Richardson(guzziology) mentioned the the
loops weren't prone to smoke. Said he seen alot that should've been killing
all wildlife within 20miles, but no smoke. Why? no idea. My Ambo guides were
shot, never puffed any smoke, so I can see where he's comming from.

Thanks. unfortunatey, milage is unknown. was told 5 K mi by PO
no pinging, no smoking, just a black plug with oil residue on threads.
not on electrode
Other side is clean and some tan color on center, black on outer ring ( end
of thread area )
wouldnt 160 psi compression imply good rings?

It would tell you it is NOT the rings, but wouldn't tell you about the
guides. The only way to study them is to tear down the head. How much
mileage? My Eldo would routinely ovalize its guides after 30K. Creates
lots
of pinging when oil is sucked past the intake stem. If you are nearing or
over this mileage, then I'd consider head work.
