Dennis,

My bet is that the side of your brake shoes are bottoming out on the
wheel hub. Try putting (temporarily) a washer in between the brake
backing plate and the left-hand wheel bearing. I had the same problem on
my Ambo because the relined shoes had wider friction material than the
what was original. Seems to me that I solved the problem by filing off
the edge of the linings on the inside edge of the brake shoes. I may
have also left the washer in there as a spacer, but that was a year ago
and I didn't take notes.
