Hi Rich,
Moto International lists brushes for the Marelli starter in their catalog - part no. 1273 0747, $7.56 ea. MG Cycle may have some also - call to check. Here's a link to their rebuilt starter page:http://www.mgcycle.com/starter.html

My local starter shop regularly rebuilds Marelli starters and generators off of European farm equipment. Told me "no problem" to do mine as long as I supply the parts.

It's possible that Bayless in Marietta, GA (Fiat/Lancia/Yugo parts) may have some to fit also as they are a (the?) Marelli importer. They didn't have solenoids or regulators when I checked with them, but it's worth a try. Cheers,

Charlie.

My Ambo has been starting badly or not at all lately. So I replaced the 5
year old battery thinking that was a good start. No go. I pulled all of the
wire connections and cleaned them, checked with multi-tester, all fine. No
go. Today I pulled the starter apart. First thing I noticed was a somewhat
wet look around the flywheel. New rear seal needed. The next was that one of
the brushes fell off from it's soldered joint and the wire is in pretty
shabby condition. One of the other brushes looks worse for wear also. Has
anyone been able to source the brushes? They are marked MG3. I will be
hitting the local rebuild shops this week but don't know if I'll be able to
cross reference to something. I know Mark and Moe either rebuild or get them
rebuilt but the rest of the unit looks in good shape so I would rather try to
replace the brushes.
Any ideas gang?
Thanks
Rich
