I've used it on mainly rims and cowlings and such. I 've used it on a
primary case and it seemed to be ok. You just wipe it on real thin and
that's it, you really don't see it, My feeling is that it may soak in
and seal the aluminum a few microns on the surface, preventing oxygen
from getting to the aluminum.

 does future floor polish leave a residue that heat will affect?

I've used Future floor polish with great success, seems to stop the oxidation and doesn't yellow or peel or anything. Just takes a little bit.
