Hi HDot,

Several ways you can go here depending on how much you want to spend.
You could buy a new ring and pinion, bearings, seals, etc. and have your
present rear drive rebuilt. Or you could find a good used one on eBay
(maybe Guzzambo or Mark @ Moto Guzzi Classics has one?) for a lot less.
8/37 gearsets were used on a wide variety of Guzzis, so it shouldn't be
too tough to find a good one. Cheers,

Charlie

I've been puttn' the '74 LAPD back together and was cleaning/checking
the rear drive assy... a little metal came out of the sump and the
pinion's shaft didn't move smoothly. So I figure OK now's the time to
check the ring and pinion. Well I found what some of the vibration was
about... the pinion is shot. Heavy pitting and the top of most of the
teeth are busted... the ring gear looks OK... so far. The bearings turn
smoothly.

I understand that the ring and pinion are a matched set. Anyone have any

ideas?
