OK loopers, time for me to ask for help. I learned all I know from an
Eldo 5-speed. Don't even own one any longer. Someone is asking me for
help with a trans leak on a 4-speed.

Does the throwout bearing system just pull out the back of the rear
cover in the same way that a 5-speed does? Simple o-ring seal on the
outer body? Also, does the actual shifter shaft have an internal
o-ring? I'm looking at a parts explosion which shows no shift shaft
o-ring, but the cutaway of the rear cover seems to show an internal
groove which would retain such a ring. Can't believe that the 4-speed
is fundamentally different than the 5 speeds and small blocks that I am
far more familiar with.

If it comes to pulling the rear cover, can it be done in place or would
I be better pulling the engine/trans unit and standing it on its nose?

Does anyone have a good 4-speed breakdown manual? Maybe a few scans of
relevant pages for me?
