Thanks for the suggestion. I just checked it, and it's not that. I'm
wondering if I should begin to consider that the coil is kaput.

My favorite Eldo failure is a grounded Tach sender. You know, that
little black wire that goes from points to tach. If that grounds out
you can kiss your sparks goodbye.
