I lived in San Diego from 1988-1990. A friend was visiting from
Oklahoma and got pulled over for something. He was trying to be
friendly with the cop and said something like "it's sure pretty
out here" to which the cop replied (rhetorically) "I guess
you're going to move out here now huh?" So they probably aren't
too concerened with tourist dollars.
