Admittedly this was back in late 60's and some things have improved
technologically (and some worsened, too) but I had a set of headers
white ceramic coated on my 42 flathead HD. It was without a doubt the
prettiest set of pipes in the world...for exactly one day. That stuff
was porous and any oil or grease (remember it was an older Harley) that
touched the surface was there forever. Do lots of research before you
jump on this train.

I have a old set of original pipes that I am thinking about getting
silver
ceramic coated. There is a shop here locally and they do some great
work on
exhaust. The price is not to bad either. When they are done they have
a
nice satin silver finish on them.

One thing no one has mentioned is engine noise. I've got SS headers on
my
V7. It's very noisy compared to a buddy's V7 that has chromed headers.
The
SS headers are quite a bit thinner than the chromed steel headers. Also
stainless doesn't damper noise like steel.

I was planning on throwing a set of steel headers on this spring to see
if
they make a difference. And yes my valves are set to factory spec.'s.

I'm thinking about replacing the head pipes on my Eldo.

Should I go for stainless or chrome? I'm thinking chrome, as that would
original. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
