Just got me thinking...worrying more than anything. Could I have
installed Eldo pistons in my Ambo? The diameter is the same, but isn't
the wrist pin located closer to the top of the Eldo piston than on the
Ambo piston? That would certainly lower compression. Did I install three
rings or four? Hmmmm...I wish I would have known more than I did at the
time. :>

Out to the garage to check my stash...find the box that my rings came in
(times like these I'm glad I'm a packrat!). It is a set made by Deves
and is number MC-121. A quick jaunt over to their website
(http://www.deves.com/devesrings/cycles_MOTO_GUZZI.html) confirms that
MC-121 is for the Ambo/V7 Special. Although not a certainty, I'm pretty
confident I have the right stuff in there now.

I suppose my valve timing could be slightly off...causing lower
compression? But I did set it - and double checked it - when my camshaft
broke. Hmmmmm....

The compression numbers concern me, too. But I don't have comparison
data...only inklings that it should be up around 160???

Do you know the history of this motor? Years ago, we used to buy
thicker base gaskets or stack two base gaskets to reduce compression on
pinging motors with bad '80's gasoline. Any suspicion of that here?
