Yup,
no big deal, opened things up like Patrick instructed, desoldered the
solenoid coil wire to allow access to the innards. The contacts were
pretty grubby with some buildup of whatever builds up on contacts.
Cleaned things up, reassembled and test drove (I know I could have just
"test started", but...). Everything appears to be good now, thanks for
the help and suggestions.
BTW, as someone else indicated, no paper gasket on the Marelli version,
just an oring between the bakelite and solenoid body.
I'll be at VMD all day Friday, but plan to leave on Saturday before the
pizza gathering. Holler if you see me, I'll be on a white V700 and my
wife will be on her V50.
