Hi - I am Richard Clegg, 48 yrs young. I have been reading the discussions
and a new member for about a month, thanks to my best friend Pete-we've known
each other for over 30 years , ride together annually , and make a lot of
connection elswhere(after all he works at Tyco- the connector kingdom of the
universe)
thanks Pete - for this , once again, another great connection!

Ok - I am going to get to this real quick - lets get it done with
I can feel the arrows coming now
I am a BMW rider-there I said it. OK let em fly.

But in my defense - I will say I have huge passion and involvement with my
newly acquired 71 Ambo police version.--gee I hope that helps.
As you also may see from email - I do work in the industry
After many years in the horticultural world, private sector, and Lyme's
disease in 98 that let me see the light and change careers(the only thing I
was physically able to do was ride cross country to Missoula on MY R60/6-1976)
This is where I pick up most of my mail
although I can always be reached at rcleg-@aol.com also.
So I am in a business that does aftermarket sales in motorcycles parts
(primarily airhead and K 2 valve bikes- although that may change a little in
the future) I am also affiliated with another shop - On the Road motorcycle
services LLC - where the owner has the better part of a million miles on
bikes- yes we work on BMW's but we have a growing number of Guzzi customers
too
which is how I got my lovely Ambo

It is not running yet - have had it since June
but its project status has now moved up to next
- it would not matter - i just love to stand and look at it - which is how i
first saw it
in front of the shop door- i felt then I had to have it
-which it came to be 6 months later anyway - on a trade (an industry perk)

So now we are getting ready to getting her going- - the other reason I had to
have her was simple - Pete
He was looking for a cruiser- thought HD - I think I mentioned Guzzi to him
well he did get that Walnecks out and found one
he got his the same week i got mine- coincidence?(nah)
they are both black
mine has white fenders- the yin and yang version on the streets of laconnia

ok enough of that all
My history of bikes is that I got a license 32 years ago
after riding dirt including 2500mx- my first street was a 1960 Bonn- beefed
up engine which I raked and extended into a chopper- yes i actually rode it
from there I went Kaw triples(survived) had a few of them

then all of a sudden I stopped

I started again on a dare from three friends- Clegg won't buy one- well he
did - in 97(rode 4000 miles in 4 months the first year )
a 1976 R60/6( i also have a 74 r90/6 with a worked engine)
MY r60/6 is my main squeeze with Ambo and others following up close(total is
8 or 9)
My R60 has seen 60k in the last three years
-it turned 100k on the bridge between Canada and the USA at Saulte St Marie
in front of the toll keeper who did not care
it was on July 30 2000- (all he had a comment on was about my hatchet cutting
the wind as it hung from Aerostich Tank Panniers_it was the next to the last
day of a 31 day, 12,200 mile trip from NY to Yukon , alaska
and the arctic circle and back. We never got to Inuvik, NWT- as it snowed 6
inches, had 100mph gusts and was 32 degree on July 12 at Eagle Plains Yukon
on the Dempster Highway - it drove us inside for two days. As you might
guess the blue 1976 R60/6 and I are tight - my Kids think they will bury me
with it
I suspect they will ,but I think the Ambo will be going with me too. thanks
guys thanks Pete(for everything)
I really enjoy the site -and the eagle

lets keep it going

Clegg
