Hey Robert,

Welcome to the family.

V700's came from the factory with non- matching frame and engine numbers.
Only when they went to the Ambassador model did they match the frame and
engine numbers.

Regards...Ian

I think GF mentioned that this particular bike probably had the
engine block
changed...the V700's rarely had matching numbers anyway, they
were normally
titled by the frame number.
I would recommend 30 wt fork oil...

 Decker H-D/M-G in Wisc.?

If it is the first one, that there is a part of history. Not
sure how you
would be able to confirm that claim. The frame and engine #'s usually
match.
Not sure if that was the case in the very early years though. Someone A
little OLDER (HA!) than me on the list might be able to fill in the gaps
there for ya.

Fork oil is across the board. Everything fram ATF to 15000 wt fork oil.
Just
to let you know, I run ATF now, next change I probbly start
with 15 - 20wt
 fork oil.

HI All:

I am the new custodian of a 1967 V7. It is serial number 1012
engine; frame 1109. 5000 actual miles. I got it from Al Decker. I have a
couple of questions about the bike. What is the consensus on fork oil?
Also,
where can I get some original petcocks? I'm sure all this has
been covered
before, but any help would be appreciated.

The bike is claimed to be the first one imported to US. Anyone have
any
 thoughts on that?

Looking forward to participating in the discussion.
