Hi Bob,
Yes, I change my own tires the "old fashioned" way. Long tire irons, rims
protectors, tire mounting lube, sweat and cussing! It can be difficult
depending on how stiff the carcass is of the tires coming off and going on
(Dunlops and Avons seem the most difficult, the Contis much easier). I
always replace tubes just as a precaution. As Ken's post proves, "your
mileage may vary." :-) Cheers,

Charlie

Charlie,
Do you change your own tires? Difficult? Do you always replace inner
tubes
 when replacing tires? Bob

Hi Jim,
My personal preference is Continental's "Blitz" TKH23 110/90-18 front
and

 TKH24 120/90-18 rear. When it's tire time and I can't get the TKH24, I
use

the Conti-Tour TK17 120/90-18 rear. Either way you get great tires for a
reasonable price. Last I checked Tire Express www.tireexpress.com had
them
for $52 front and $59 rear (or the TK17 for $63). My experience with the
Contis (and Tire Express - I've never gotten a tire more than a year
old)
 is
very positive. The Blitz fronts last for 12,000 miles and the rears
10,000,
the TK17 has been on my '69 Ambo for 9,000 miles now and looks about
half

worn. I'm not an agressive rider, but I also don't baby the old beast.
They
work equally well in the dry or wet, have very predictable handling
characteristics and fill out the fat fenders well. If they had more of a
retro look they would perfect to me.
The only other tires I have any experience with is the Dunlop F11 front
and
491 Elite II in the same sizes. We used this combo on my friend Dan's
Eldo

and so far, so good. No info. on longevity yet - he hasn't put enough
miles
on them for that. However, they seem to be at least as good in all other
areas.
Happy shopping, let us know how whatever you choose works out! Cheers,

Charlie

I'm getting my old '67 V7 going again and now it's time to look into
tires... It's got 4.00x18's on it and I'm sure the technology and the
players in the marketplace have change in the 15 years since I last
bought

Motorcycle tires... Any suggestions as to make/model/size to get?
Also

 are
there any good online places to get them?

Thanks... Jim
